Easter Fun Event! And the winner is . . .
Grasonville, MD – Thursday morning – Yesterday, Candace and I held our Easter Fun Event for the kids [and the kids-at-heart] at the Grasonville studio! What fun we had helping the kids make Easter egg bookmarks, decorated craft foam eggs [love our Aleene’s FunCraft Foam Glue for this type of project], button bunnies, bunny bags and we even had a funky Easter hat contest! [And here’s our happy winner!]
We were so pleased to see the kids interest in dyeing their Easter eggs with natural dyes including blueberries [the most luscious lavender], onion skins [a nice light orangeish], turmeric [bold golden yellow], and beets [pretty pink]. We had set out packaged dyes just in case . . . but the kids LOVED the idea of dyeing their eggs with the bright natural colors!
You REALLY must try this! Just boil your naturals, strain and add vinegar. It’s really just as easy as the packaged dyes but FAR more interesting for the kids to learn about the natural dyes.
Our youngest crafter was 2-1/2 and the oldest was 8 and I must tell you, I was quite impressed with their creativity and skill. The 4-year old kept reminding me she could do it herself whenever I jumped in. As always, the girls loved embellishing with rhinestones and pink and purple are definitely the choice of colors.
And the Moms, aunts and grandmothers enjoyed joining in making their bunny buttons and their funky hats. We provided the paper and foam plates, doilies, plastic eggs, florals, ribbons and Easter egg grass, they provided the creativity! It was definitely a happy day! >>Tiffany
