LOS OSOS, CA – Monday night – My daughter Starr and I were invited to a baby shower last weekend. It was for one of the girls in our ‘girls night out’ group. Of course I waited until the morning of the party to plan my gift giving (actually Starr did too!) So when I called Starr to ask what she was giving, we both decided on a gift card (from Target) which I bought at the grocery store . (Go figure that one out!) When I came home to put it in a metal card container I thought I had, but could not find, I decided since I have all the supplies in my studio, I would create my own gift box.
So I gathered: a paper mache box, some decorative tissue paper, a brush, some Aleene’s Instant Decoupage Glue (I love this stuff!!), some tulle, a tag, alphabet letters, one of my ceramic cookies – heart shape (you’ll be able to buy these on my web site soon!) and some glue. (Sorry Mom, I used hot glue this time).
I went to work with my creation, and in less than an hour this is what I came up with. A wonderful keepsake which the mommy-to-be absolutely loved – she loved the gift card too. My new plan (when I have the extra time – ha ha ) would be to be make several gift boxes up in advance to have for those special celebrations that just come so fast. >> Love ya, Heidi
