Rosemary – Medicinal and Culinary
GRASONVILLE, MD – Thursday morning – Rosemary is for remembrance and that is exactly what rosemary is good for in herbal medicine. Rosemary has such an invigorating scent that perks up you and your brain! Rosemary is easy to grow in warm climates but more challenging in cold climates. Rosemary, of course, is a wonderful culinary herb that is used in many meat, fish and poultry recipes and I love to make rosemary potatoes as they are simply delicious. Rosemary can also be added to soups and stews so be sure you have lots of rosemary in your spice cupboard. Medicinally, rosemary really shines as it is so great for improving circulation, helps digestion, eases muscle aches and pains, stimulates the flow of blood to your head and scalp so it is good for your hair and for memory issues! Rosemary is a good tonic herb that assists your entire body to just be healthier! Here’s to your wellness! >>Candace

Mushrooms
GRASONVILLE, MD – Tuesday night – I looked out my window this morning to appreciate the beautiful colors of the sunrise when I noticed something white sticking up in the yard. I thought it was some sort of plastic toy that the grandkids had stuck in the lawn. Intrigued, I went outside and lo and behold it was a perfect white mushroom growing amidst a sea of green grass. The perfection of nature awes me. Mushrooms were once considered to be food of the gods. Today we use mushrooms in our culinary recipes and for their wonderful medicinal qualities. Culinary mushrooms include white button, crimini, portabella, shiitake, merls, oyster, enoki and chanterelle. Culinary mushrooms are used for their flavor in cooking but also add fiber, vitamins and minerals to our meals. Medicinally, mushrooms are mildly antiviral and antibiotic so are good for easing infection and constipation, enhance our body’s general resilience and vigor, stimulate our immune systems, and have anitoxidant properties.
So while marveling at the perfection of a perfect mushroom growing in the lawn, remember to use mushrooms in your cooking and medicinally to enhance your life. Be sure to buy your mushrooms from the grocery as there are many poisonous varieties SO DO NOT pick them from your yard. The mushrooms in your yard are beautiful to look at and to appreciate the wonder of nature. >>Candace
